A few words for my Enrich 4 students...

I know all of you are struggling with your Essay and Presentation tasks.
Please remember these advice from me :

1. Use standard English

This is a must. Don't force your audience to understand something that is not presented in Standard English, they might get the wrong impression and understanding .

2. No Pain No Gain

Your effort shows in your work. To put in effort is a lot of "pain". Yep, you have to study, plan, do research, make notes, write it out...and most important...think it out. But sorry...there's no other way and there's no easy way...you have to face it !! [this means : go and sit on that desk...close that FB and end that online game and open up your essay and presentation drafts ^^]

3. If you say :

You are right^^ I believe in you.... I know you can !!

Last words for today......

Good luck with those essays and presentations !

Enrich 4 - Persuasive Strategies

Hi to all my High Intermediate / Enrich 4 Students. As I informed you in class today, I will be postings some tips for your writing in this blog...so here it is. I hope these strategies will help you when you write a Persuasive Essay [or presentation].

Persuasive Strategy Definitions
:

1. Claim - your main point ---> state your argument

2. Big Names - experts and important people that support your side of the argument ---> mentioning their names will make your argument more convincing

3. Logos - using logic, numbers, facts, and data to support your argument ---> facts and numbers and information can be very convincing

4. Pathos - appealing to your audience’s emotions ---> getting people to feel happy, sad or angry can help your argument

5. Ethos - making yourself seem trustworthy and believable ---> if people believe and trust you, you are more likely to persuade them

6. Kairos - building a sense of urgency for your cause ---> try to convince your audience that this issue is so important they must act now

7. Research - using studies and information to make your argument seem more convincing; you can use words, graphs, tables, illustrations ---> using reliable research can help your argument sound convincing

Comet 2, Scrapbook Pages of Room 303

I'm glad most of you have submitted your stories on your scrapbook pages ! Some of the stories are imaginary stories, others are about what happened on your last vacation. Looks like most of you went on a trip with your family or friends^^ Let's enjoy them here. I'll give them back to you [corrected] next Monday, before the test, Ok!.

First one is by Grace...wow, she's put a LOT of effort
into it....it's awesome, Grace...great job !

The stickers are beautiful....

The whole page....

Next one is by Intan...oh, Intan it's so cute :)
I like your choice of cute drawings for your scrapbook page...

The small stars are also nice...they look nice even though
your paper got squished in your bag ^^

This one is by Dinar. Wow.... the words are very colorful !

Nice crayon drawing, Dinar !....

Okay...now you know Krisna loves Soccer, look below...
Wow...the page looks great, Krisna !

It says he had a wonderful time ...he he...Great !

And this one is by Richard....
This is very interesting, Richard !

It seems Richard doesn't like to ride in airplanes....

I wonder if Richard met a Prairie Dog in Bangkok ?? he he

Hmm...Aditama hasn't finished his, I wonder when
he will finish it? The Crocodile
looks interesting...

And Sofyan asked me to hold on to his unfinished scrapbook page. He's afraid it will be ruined inside his bag...because he has too many heavy books ^^ He will finish it next time he meets me....I think...

Ok...I'll correct the contents of your scrapbook pages as soon as I can...and I'm still waiting for more scrapbook pages from other great students of Room 303 !!
